Learning objective: To be comfortable with using PATSy
TASKS/OBJECTIVES (Tick when completed)
Can you get into PATSy?
- check machine is switched on
- check headphones available & plugged in
- check headphones (or speaker if no headphones) are working
- activate the browser (Netscape)
- type in URL http://www.patsy.ac.uk/
- When it asks for username. Type your own username in
- For the password, use your own password
(note: both are CaSe-SeNsItIvE).
Familiarise yourself with PATSy's front page
- Read "confidentiality and terms of use agreement"
- "A simple walk-through of the PATSy system, with no passwords
required.".
- Look in "Dyslexia" to access the dyslexia domain.
Can you see the dyslexia domain?
- Enter at Student level
- Select access type "Information Only"
- Go to participants
- Select WS
- View the videos of WS (Movie links)
- Click on "Back" on browser toolbar
- Read WS's family questionnaire
- Read "About PATSy tests"
- View test data
- Click on "Free Writing Test at age 9:10
- Click on "Back" on browser toolbar
- Click on "McDougall et al Rhyme Oddity Task" at age 11:05
- Read the summary for this test.
- Click on the "Participant WS Page" link at the top or bottom of the page
- View "Interesting features about this participant"
- View "Publications relevant to this participant"
- View "Contributors"
Now try to access PATSy in a different mode - "Assessment Practise"?
- Return to the home page and enter the dyslexia site as a student as before.
- On the "PATSy user Options" page, select "assessment practice"
- Explore the participant WS in the new mode.
- How does this differ from "Information only" access?
- Select "Go to participants" for the next exercise
Can you administer the GNWRT to WS and use the PATSy log?
- Select WS again
- Select "Test Data"
- Select "Graded Nonword Reading Test" at age 9:10.
- Select "About this test"
- Select "norms"
- Administer the test to WS using your own copy of the test and scrolling
through the record of his responses.
- Select "Add to log"
- Type in your answers about his performance on the GNWRT
- Now you MUST "Submit" to SAVE your work. If you forget, you will
lose all your work.
- Now select "View log" to read what you have written
Can you exit PATSy in a responsible way?
- Select "PATSy Dyslexia Home" (at bottom)
- Go to "File" on the top menu of the Web page
- Select "Exit" which quits the browser
- Select "Start" in the left bottom corner of the page.
- Select "Log Off."
- Select "yes" when it asks if you want to log off.
- This procedure is very important to stop anyone else interacting with
PATSy as YOU.
Can you SHUT DOWN?
Go to "Start" and then select "Shut down"
