1. Why won't PATSy recognise my login details anymore?
There are several possibilties:
- Case-sensitivity - Remember that PATSy is CaSe-SeNiSiTiVe.
Try again but make sure you use the correct case.
- User has misremembered username and password details (see below)
- Department's account has expired
- Cookies are disabled - PATSy requires cookies to be permitted from
patsy.ac.uk. Most browsers allow this by default but some don't. The effect of
not allowing cookies to be set is that login will never succeed even with a
valid username and password. IE8 is an example of a browser where cookies will
probably be disabled by default: on this browser you will probably need to add
patsy.ac.uk to your list of trusted sites.
2. I have forgotten my password
Contact your local administrator for a new password. All login details
are personal. Please do not borrow a friend's login details nor lend
yours to anyone.
3. I don't understand why PATSy says "Access Denied: Your account has expired"
You need to contact your local PATSy administrator (normally the
person that issued you with your account details) and ask them to
update your details.
4. I don't understand why PATSy says "Access Denied: Your group's account has expired"
Again, contact your local PATSy administrator (normally the
person that issued you with your account details) and ask them to
update the group details.
5. I don't understand why PATSy says "Sorry - Your subscription does not appear to include this domain "
If you believe that you should have access to all the PATSy
domains, you should contact your local PATSy administrator (normally
the person that issued you with your account details) and ask them
which domains you should have access to. Remember that it is quite
possible your institution has only subscribed to a subset of the
domains on PATSy. It's also possible that your local administrator has
deliberately restricted access to your group.
6. I logged into PATSy using my normal account but I cannot access
video clips (but I can access everything else)
Access to video clips is only permitted from machines connected to the
internet that have domain names ending in ac.uk (usually university
machines on university networks). You are probably accessing PATSy
from out the university, perhaps using a private account with a
commercial internet service provider (eg. BTclickfree Onetel,
Freeserve, etc).
